Literature Text

You made me brighter, everything you did.

I wouldn’t take it back to save my life.

I learned to shine while others like me hid

And laugh when someone like you twists the knife.

Eventually you saw your own mistake.

You fell to me, so desperate for my aid.

Eventually, your son was mine to make

A victim too, though never have I preyed.

Yet I still think of others you have wronged,

And ten long years have failed to change their stars.

What glowed the brightest for your mercy longed,

And now absorbs all light into its scars.

No strength of mine is worth the pain, the doubt,

The death of all the stars your words put out.
