At times I’ve found I love a world so much
That I’m compelled to make its story grow.
I want to make it real enough to touch
And flesh it out with everything I know.
I study day and night to prove my point.
I edit many times to hone my craft.
I read again so I don’t disappoint
And look for somber at the points I laughed.
But sometimes all my research is for naught.
Some works, it seems, are steep for me to climb.
I fail to find the details that I sought
To make my story worthy of your time.
I write for works whose failures come to me.
About that contest: It’s not you, it’s me.

So tonight I'm having a "WIP clearing house" so I can focus 100% on the most challenging piece I have in progress. The great thing about sonnets is that I rarely, rarely make substantial changes to them after the initial drafting process. I usually only make two passes at them, I just usually make them slightly further apart than this. Of course, drafting them takes me much longer than you'd expect for 14 lines.

This piece is my entry for `Luna--Rose's newest contest... which is asking why we didn't enter her last contest. Ultimately, there are just some fandoms and stories I don't write for. My writing tends to come from inconsistencies, thematic problems, and things that just bug me. If nothing bugs me, I don't feel inclined to write.
