Literature Text

You told me once you did not have a dream
Back then, I thought you would not be my foe.
And even now, in retrospect you seem
So rooted only in those things you know.
You are the truth; you live it, make it real.
You take what good is there and make it great.
The negatives, you never stop to feel;
Instead you find out why they’re someone’s fate.
And here I stand with pipe dreams at my feet,
Ideals in pieces, never meant to be.
I wonder if, the next time that we meet,
I might be right, and you might dream of me.
Could I have been the truth, and you ideals?
What could have been can soothe; it never heals.

You told me once you had a distant dream
Back then, I thought you would not be my foe.
And even now, in retrospect you seem
Too strong to need to aim your dreams so low.
You live the way your dragon thinks: ideal.
You take what’s wrong and force it to be great.
The worst of binds, to you, is never real;
Your thirst for justice never seems to sate.
And here I stand, my truth beneath my feet,
A broken schema, never meant to be.
I wonder if the next time that we meet
I’ll have my dream, and you might truly see.
Could I have been ideals, and you the truth?
No what-if ever could restore our youth.

A mistaken entry for LAST week's #LiteraryFanFiction challenge, "Opposites." Naturally the best choice for such a prompt is Pokemon: Black and White.

Huge game-ending spoilers if you read it too close here. Also shipping. Possibly yaoi shipping. Oh noes.

Definitely under 500 words.

Very nice. Honestly I wouldn't have been spoiled if I didn't know the ending. And a good topic choice as well!
